Len Blavatnik in the Epstein files

Presumably you ain't in it. But you know who is in it besides all the people you've heard about in the news? You guessed it, DAZN's owner Leonard Blavatnik made it. I'm pretty sure I have to include some kind of boilerplate line that 'being in the files or friends with Epstein is no indication of wrongdoing etc etc' which is technically true, but also... you know what, reach your own conclusions. There are laws which prevent me from sharing my unfiltered thoughts but as far as I'm aware, there are no laws against you reaching your own conclusions.

Blavatnik was described on this website as 'the transatlantic oligarch Leonid Blavatnik' but it's one of my articles that Google doesn't like. You can specifically search for instances of the word 'oligarch' from this website and it'll tell you there aren't any to be found.

Now, we know Google has been instrumental in internet censorship and manipulation for at least a decade at this point. The most recommended alternative is the privacy-oriented DuckDuckGo, which has been steadily growing in popularity. However, they're looking to replace Google by becoming Google-lite (much like how Firefox is constantly looking to become like Chrome-lite). And DuckDuckGo also gives a curious result.

Stranger still is if you press enter a second time, the result changes to show the article and pull the quote beneath it. Like Yandex and Bing do at the first time of asking if you search 'site:prizefighting.org oligarch' - given that DuckDuckGo is powered by Bing, one can only assume that it's a change made at DuckDuckGo's end of the algorithm. There's every possibility it's just a coincidence or perhaps there's some other offending material in the article. For example, the self-declared 'copyright-ignoring exclusive' translation of that old Dutch comic does not directly appear on Google when you search 'site:prizefighting.org jimmy brown' but does appear on DuckDuckGo. There are many far more egregious and big examples of the questionable decisions made by tech companies, I just wanted to help illustrate that there are countless small examples too, examples so small that they even apply to lil' ol' me.

Back to Epstein's friend Blavatnik, a relationship that was put on my radar by the dedicated muckraker @arejaywoof. You can search Blavatnik's name directly in the United States Department of Justice 'Epstein Library' and get page after page of annoying to navigate and undated files. Or, you could use Jmail, and view the ~2% of Epstein files which the US government has released so far in a Gmail GUI. Searching for Blavatnik via Jmail, brings up the following tidbits (which I'm sure will only help my Google rankings!).

Ended up at after-party at Jean-George...balmy night on a terrace sitting around a small table lcibbitzing, telling hilarious stories about ourselves (and wishing you could be there and see this for yourself) till 2:30am with BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, TOM HANKS, Rita Wilson, Jeremy Irons, Georffrey Rush, Christie Brinkley and ME!!!

Beyond great.
Yesterday went to Javier Bardem film "Biutiful" at 8:30am. He gets Oscar nom and film is brilliant and depressing.

Press conference for "Biutiful" at 11:00am because I have a badge.....there is Paris Match,NY Times and Avenue Magazine all asking stupid questions.

Lunch at 2:00pm on Len Blavatnik's boat hosted by Harvey for rich investors. [...]

You missed the event of the day here. Was exhausting trying to organize a simple lunch on holiday at Taiwana.

What started as a simple girls lunch, then became girls and boys, then house guests, boat mates and kids. Tamara Mellon and I did get 40 fabulous friends I also got a third person. Angela Ismailos, a Greek social wanna-be documentary film maker ....to help pay. Guests included Harvey Weinstein and family, Nicolas Berggreun, Nat Rothchild, Federick Fekkai, LA Reid, Russel Simons. Martha Stewart, Jean Pigozzi...etc. Tamara Mellon is really a terrific girl. Why don't you like her?

I paid 1,600 euros for 10 lunches, Tamara paid the same and Angela paid 2,300 euros for 16. Jean-Paul is a thief but he tried very hard to help us.

Larry Gagosian's party last night was tops. Creme de la creme of jet set were there. Actually it was refreshing not to see Christine and Stephen Hearst-Schwarzman flaunting themselves....this was strictly a hipper crowd, Len Blavatnik and Harvey Weinstein were the least of the chic.

Demi Moore, Ashton Kushner, Selma Hyack, Lorne Michaels, Nat Rothchild, Bob Colacello, Julian Schnabel, Stephanie Seymour, Peter Brant, Martha Stewart, Jean Pigozzi, Dasha Zhukova, Roman Abramovich, Brian Grazer (Ron Howard's producer), Lawrence Bender (Quentin Tarantino's producer), Cy Twomly (artist)...Samantha Boardman and Aby Rosen....etc. were all there. Very interesting crowd. A far cry from Palm Beach...

Today is the first rainy day. I am actually thrilled to have a lazy moming...morc to come. Having a terrific time. Amazcd how many fab people are here.

According to the New York Times, "Mr. Big" is Leon Black. For those of you skipping ahead because you don't care for emails about dinner dates and thinking "well, just because he was friends with the guy doesn't necessarily mean he knew what was going on", you're right. And entirely separate to that, here's an excerpt from an FBI report (September 2021) about an interview with one of the victims:

She told him that she thought she was drugged and that she is going back to [REDACTED]. He sarcastically says that he didn't expect that and then she leaves the country. She gives some of her belongings away and puts it in storage. BLACK still calls her. He says watch out for her son while she's away. He says that he will be able to do things to her while she's away. BLACK would reach out to [REDACTED] until she would sign an NDA. [REDACTED] did not pay him back for the loans. The money that she had when leaving the United States was from BLACK. She signed another loan when she was leaving the country which he made her sign. He was threatening her so she didn't know why he gave her the loan. She thinks it's because he was financially in control of her life. [REDACTED] still paid even after leaving.

After the rape, LEN BLAVATNIK calls [REDACTED] and asks how's she feeling. She tells him better. BLACK sends her flowers. BLAVATNIK invites [REDACTED] to a party in [REDACTED]. Then, when in [REDACTED] BLAVATNIK talks about poisoning and it's a good thing to stay out of New York and to never go back.

Sounds like a charming bunch of people. Another underreported piece of news brought to light by @arejaywoof, Blavatnik (who was born in Odessa, then part of Soviet Ukraine) is also sanctioned by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

I remember people used to howl with rage at the mere thought that Al Haymon could be plotting nefarious schemes to take over the sporting world. Well, Al Haymon isn't in the Epstein files. And Blavatnik is in them as far back as 2005. How deep this all goes is still a mystery.
